Blackberry was started when engineering students Mike Lazaridis (now co-chief executive) and Douglas Fregin founded Research In Motion (RIM) in Canada, in 1984. Their early work includes two- way paging and point of sales technology for retailers wanting wireless communications between in-store systems.
Here is the product milestone:
2000: RIM 957 Wireless Handheld produced
2002: Arrival of the BlackBerry 5810 followed by the 6710 and 6720.
2003: 6000 and 7200 Series Released
2004: Bluetooth comes to BlackBerry with the launch of the 7290
2005: 8700 series appears, including the 3G 8707
2007: Blackberry Curve, with Wi-Fi and GPS, is launched
2008: Bold, Storm and 8220 Flip hit the market.
2009: Curve 8900 released.
